Nin, is born in Nevilly, France. She will move to America after
her father deserts the family, but later returns to live most of
her life in Paris.
93 years ago (1907),
W. H. (Wystan Hugh) Auden is born in York.
75 years ago (1925),
The first issue of the _The New Yorker_ is published. Founded
and edited by Harold Ross to "reflect metropolitan life" the
magazine announces that it will not be "for the old lady in
Dubuque."
