My strong, clever, beautiful wife and I found a set of videos designed to
teach German to three-year-olds at a garage sale and decided to give them
a try. After Rosie, our three-year-old, had watched both the
English-language and German-language versions of the same cartoon a few
times, my wife decided to test her comprehension.
-Rosie, what would it mean if I said "Ich bin stark."?
-It means you're strong, Mama.
-Right! What would it mean if I said "Ich bin klug."?
-That means you're clever.
-Very good! And what would it mean if I said "Ich bin schoen."?
-Mama! You have to be beautiful first!
