The Denver-New England game was Frank Gifford's 400th telecast on ABC's
Monday Night Football. "He's the dean of all broadcasters," says Argus
Hamilton. "When he started broadcasting, Marv Albert was still in a
training bra."
Tampa radio executive Derek Button, about his offer to Albert to broadcast
three daily one-minute sports commentaries: "We can hook his phone up and
he can do it from his apartment. He can dress how he likes."
Albert passed on the offer. The way Jerry Perisho hears it, "He's waiting
for something more substantial, something he can really sink his teeth into."
"There has been a big shake up in management at CBS News. Some blame the
outgoing brass with poor handling of last month's most tragic event. The
premiere of Bryant Gumbel's show." (Alan Ray)
