Subject: Good News!  The FPVP begins later today. . .

Dear Fun_People,
    You've earned a vacation and you're going to get it.  As part of your  
FPVP (Fun_People Vacation Plan), I will spend the next seven weeks undergoing  
ritual purification consisting primarily of music immersion and sleep  
deprivation.  It's very effective I'm told... (at least I think the doctors  
said "effective" - they were muttering a lot at the time).
    As a result, during the next month and a half there will be only the  
barest minimum amount of Fun_People email (i.e. nearly none).  If you have an  
urgent need for fun, you might visit the Fun_People archives (see below), or  
you might even try to develop some kind of relationship with another person  
in your vicinity (but don't go overboard... this stuff can be hazardous).
    In any case, enjoy your summer!
