Subject: Allen Ginsberg 1926 - 1997
Allen Ginsberg died Saturday morning of a heart attack related to his
recently-diagnosed liver cancer. Ginsberg was the poet laureate of the Beat
Generation and had a hand in shaping the thought of a whole generation while
being a truly unpretentious, humble, friendly person who was as enthusiastic
to be a juror in a local haiku poetry slam (Matt Pico's, last year) or to
teach a telve-year-old kid how to do card tricks (me, in 1958) as he was to
write famous poetry and pursue social and intellectual crusades.
The loss of his voice weakens us all.
