San Carlos
A suspicious package abandoned at the post office by a middle-aged man and
subsequently blown up by the bomb squad turned out to contain an inflatable
sex doll, police say. Workers at the post office in the 800 block of Laurel
Avenue noticed the man in his 40s behaving peculiarly while waiting in line
at 1:15 p.m., police Cmdr. James Cost said. The man became agitated, set
his package down in a waiting area and walked out onto the street, clerks
told police. The package was addressed to a man in Southern California and
had a Washington state return address, Cost said. When contacted by phone,
the would-be recipient told police he had never heard of the return address
and denied any knowledge of the package. The bomb squad blew up the parcel
on the sidewalk outside, then discovered the inflatable sex doll.
