	IDAHO TRAVELERS GET TATERS

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Starting Monday, along with advice and highway maps,
travelers who stop at Idaho rest areas will get free cooked potatoes -- even
in northern Idaho, hundreds of miles from where most of the state's most
famous product is grown.

The state's calling it the "Taters for Travelers" promotion at 16
participating visitor centers.  It's part of Tourism Awareness Week,
designed to recognize the importance of Idaho's visitor information centers
and the $2 billion Idaho tourism industry.

Almost 2,000 potatoes were donated to participating visitor centers by
Keegan Potatoes, Twin Falls.  The Idaho Potato Commission chipped in
posters, tabletop displays and pins.  Nereby restaurants or similar
facilities in each city cook the potatoes, and in some cases, donate butter,
sour cream or other toppings.
