Check this out for clever government spending: I don't know if you have
heard about our problem with English beef infected with a "crazy cow"
disease. Anyway, beef sales are way down so the government spent 40 million
francs ($8 million) on a logo for butchers to display that the beef is
French. The logo is a slanted VF meaning "Viande Francaise" or "French
meat." Well, the crazy cow disease in French is "Vache Folle" which has
the same initials -- VF. Need I say that beef sales are still down?
