... unlike UNIX, which requires all sorts of cryptic nonsense to
configure its server functions.

For example, in the FTP server that comes with Windows NT, you
can "annotate" a directory -- presumably so that, the first time
a connected user CDIR's to that directory, a message for that
directory is sent as part of the response to the CDIR -- you
create a file in the directory named "~FTPSVC~.CKM" containing
the annotation.

*Much* more friendly than the files with cryptic names like "README"
and "ftpwelcome" used by UNIX ftp daemons.
