Namibia, Africa:
A question not on the U.S. citizenship test got singer
Jon Secada's press agent a passport: "What do M&M's
do?"
"Melt in your mouth," Jorge Pinos replied correctly for
a new passport from the U.S. consulate.
Pinos discovered his passport had expired upon arriving
in Namibia with Secada, who will perform in the Miss
Universe pageant. Pageant officials contacted consular
officer Robert Burton, who said he asked -- mostly in
jest -- a routine question only an American would know.

Washington, District of Columbia:
Paranoia at the Internal Revenue Service?
An IRS publication misquotes George Bernard Shaw:
"Some men see things as they are and say, 'Why?' I
dread things that never were, and say 'Why not?"
Actually, Shaw said "dream" not "dread."
[So much for the IRS trying to get a (British turned American?) passport
renewed in Namibia... -psl]
