A friend and I have been writing down bodhran accompaniments to
Irish fiddle tunes for about a year or so. The project began as an
emergency measure to help guide bodhran players, new to our sessions,
who were long on enthusiasm, but short on their familiarity with Irish
traditional music. The project sort of grew into a habit, which has
resulted in bodhran parts for about 150 tunes.
Anyway, we have played O'Dowd's Favorite in Gm, and used it as
the ending tune in a set which began with Nine Points to Roguery and
Opera Reel. The bodhran accompaniment I have is pretty basic, but it
is a place to start:
O'DOWD'S FAVORITE:
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada
BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada BOOM dada

[This followed an earlier posting giving the guitar chords for Dowd's.
I thought it worth a chuckle or two. -- Cheers, Lani]
[HEY! GETCHER BODHRAN PLAYER JOKES HERE! STEP RIGHT UP! FIRST ONE'S FREE!
So I'm standing in line at the bank and I turn to the guy behind me and say
"I heard this great bodhran player joke today" and he says, "Wait a minnit!
(BOOM dada BOOM dada) I happen to be a bodhran player (BOOM dada) my own
self!" and I say "That's okay; I can tell it real slow." -psl]
