tried to waste time with my faux unix tools from mks. unfortunately, the
mks cat program responded:

cat: food in cans: no such file or directory

or perhaps fortunately, since this response was not even entertaining and
therefore an even greater waste of time - the original objective.

ps. another waste of time that i have found enjoyable is writing puns in c.
for example:

        fishing == (pond)fly;

i'm not sure `pun` is the right word. actually i'm not sure `enjoyable` is
either. but there's no question that `waste of time` is accurate...
