[Magician/comedian] Penn Jillette is on the floor at the convention.
these reports from our far-flung correspondent.

+-----------------------------< Today >------------------------------+
I asked Margaret Anderson, the major fund-raiser for Bush how much
to get George to come to your house and play Twister. She seemed
to think that 3 million would do it.
+--------------------------------------------------------------------+

+-----------------------------< Today >------------------------------+
I had a blast at Comedy Central and by yelling and being crazy, I
got Barbara Bush to tell me a Knock Knock joke. It was
considered an amazing coup.
"Hey, Mrs. Bush, Mrs. Bush" (she was coming out of McNeil Lehrer,
one floor below" She waved.)
"I'm Penn Jillette and this is Lawrence O'Donnell Jr., come up
here and talked with us."
"Who?"
"That doesn't matter, we're from Comedy Central, tell us a joke."
"You're crazy."
"I know that. Tell us a joke."
"You....you're the joke."
"Anything, a knock knock joke, anything. You say `Knock Knock'
and I'll say `Who's There?". It'll be great."
"Knock Knock" (at this point, the crew is out of their minds).
"Who's there?"
"Barbara Bush."
"Barbara Bush Who?"
"Barbara Bush, me." (the SS hustle her away.)

"Wow, she is so hip, I don't even get it. It's too hip for
Dennis Miller, too hip for the band, too hip for the Astrodome.
Totally minimalist, postmodern, deconstructed knock knock joke."

All the reporters from print and TV descended on me as getting
"THE GET."
Pretty lucky for a first day out.
