Tonight on the eve of the election it just occurred to me how we ended up
with two such mediocre candidates.  The TV program "Survivor" was a metaphor
for the elections: during the primaries all the interesting and worthwhile
candidates were voted off the island, and each party was left with the
naked plump gay guy who wasn't viewed by everyone else as a threat.
