Dear Editor,

Un-freakin'-believable.

Nowhere --anywhere!-- in Winda Benedetti's lengthy feature on
tech-etiquette ("Manners Dotcom" 3/20) does she even hint at the most
flagrant and ongoing abuse of cell phone technology. Amazingly missing from
the very top of her list of "do nots" is "DO NOT TALK ON A CELL PHONE WHEN
YOU ARE DRIVING!"

That annoying ringy-dingy in the middle of your dinner or favorite play
won't kill or injure you. The same can't be said, however, for the creep
trying to manipulate a three-ton SUV down the road, one hand on the wheel
and the other on his cell phone. Or the Bellevue Barbie in her Ferrari,
yakking because she's late for a shopping engagement. Concentrating on
driving? Hardly. Barely!

In my own personal effort to control hiway phone rage, I'm having a photon
torpedo bay installed on my vehicle. Soon I won't have yell at these bozos
anymore when they do something patently stupid and dangerous. I'll just
send a cell-seeking hot one up their tailpipe. Bang, zoom, to the Delta
Quadrant, Alice!

Yours for 24th Century manners,

Jef Jaisun
