According to a story in a Munich newspaper last week, two million Germans
calling themselves Medienverweigerer have decided that following the news
is a waste of their time.  The story reported that the "media resisters"
don't read newspapers or listen to the radio, and 46% don't watch
television. Members of Medienverweigerer describe themselves as more
creative and satisfied.  (SF Chronicle)

Fox gave both of Matt Groening's animated series, "The Simpson" and
"Futurama," the green light for another season Thursday.  "The Simpsons" is
the longest-running animated primetime series ever, and at present the
longest-running sitcom on air.  (NY Post)

An Arkansas judge ruled President Clinton was in contempt.  "Clinton said
today they may plea-bargain the contempt charge down to 'smug arrogance.'"

He could face disbarment because of the decision.  "Clinton no longer a
lawyer?  Whew, you thought his popularity rating was high now." (Leno)

Scientists say they're trying to clone Rhesus monkeys in an effort to
provide a genetically identical supply of animals for research.  "The clones
would be reproduced from tiny bits of the existing monkeys' DNA, also known
as Rhesus pieces." (Ira Lawson)
