Subject: Re: Things You'd Rather Not Hear During Surgery

From: Daniel Steinberg <dss@opcode.com>

My wife's brother-in-law used to work for a surgical supply company. He
would go around to hospitals with various new technology...plastic heart
valve replacements and such...and would not only sell them but would assist
in surgery to make sure they were installed properly. He said that surgeons
at this one DC hospital where he did a lot work had a tradition during open
heart surgery of pinching an artery near the heart and sending a little
spray of blood arcing across the room to hit some nurse at the far end.
Those wacky surgeons! What kidders!
