Today's quote (from _The Winnipeg Sun_) was a bit of coverage of the
extraordinary community effort that successfully kept the Winnipeg Jets
hockey team in the city where they belong:

At Stony Mountain's Rockwood Institution [a provincial jail], inmates are
passing the hat. By 4 a.m. yesterday afternoon, Rockwood residents had
raised $206 and were expecting more than $300 by day's end.

"That should buy at least one coat of water for the ice," said one inmate.

"There's probably more Jets fans in here than anywhere," said Jason
Moorehead. "We watch all the games we can on TV. You might say we're a
captive audience."

"If they don't have enough money, give us five days and we'll raise it,"
said an inmate. "But first they gotta let us out of here."
