[When we renovated a loft in an industrial building in the garment district
(NYC), I quickly discovered that "normal" off-white latext wall paint would
turn tan anywhere it was covered (e.g. by a picture) and bone-white anyplace it
wasn't covered.  This wasn't the sun bleaching the walls -- it happened on all
the walls and inside closets, too.  It was just chemicals in the air from the
textile and printing businesses all around us.  I had always heard that
Pittsburgh had even worse air than New York, so I wasn't surprised to get the

Subject: why brownies are different in pittsburgh

After moving to pittsburgh from florida I noticed that, when left out for
a while, the texture of the top of leftover brownies changed.  Perhaps
this was due to the vast difference in humidity I thought.  After many
experiments to check on the surface condition of brownies I went into the
kitchen one day and the (new) cat was licking the top off the brownies.
